Review of Cross-National Studies on Homicide Crime Rates
Abstract
This article aims to undertake a general analysis regarding the transnational empirical studies in relation to homicide. With this purpose, a basic bibliometric analysis and a systematic revision is about to made of the pertinent literature, with particular emphasis on what are variable factors in the rates of the crime of homicide. A critical summary of the literature is mostly carried out, synthesizing the expression of the sample and the relationship of the variables, that is, the independent variable that may correlate with the rates of homicide. In other cases that are considered important, further to this, we stopped to elaborate on the method and the main conclusions. It ends with the exposition of the main dimensions of the literature that addresses this topic, with some observations with regards to the most recurring methods in the studies analysed.
