Abstract

This paper studies the underutilization of the labor force and the participation of women in the labor market, and how this issue is appreciated within the framework of the notion of "decent work". The differences in access to employment and in working conditions with respect to men, the causes of the situation of inequality, and the incidence of the Covid19 pandemic in the increase of said inequality, are analyzed.

Gender stereotypes are referred as one of the causes of the inequality situation, considering them as prejudices about the role of women in the family and at work. The need to combat them with education at school and at all levels is highlighted, in orden to tear down these social constructions that lack reason and generate inequality.
