Free Legal Offices. Research in Law from a pragmatic‑pragmatist perspective

The Free Legal Offices of the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the National University of La Plata —existing since 1992 and in operation since 1993— have been rarely addressed as an object of inquiry, and even less as an object of systematic studies. This situation is repeated in the rest of the national universitys of Argentina that have free legal services. In this article, we propose to present the offices as object of study and to specify the considerations, principles and postulates from which we will develop the analysis, giving account of the epistemic approach constructed. As a preliminary advance of the ongoing research, we identified common aspects emerging from the reading of more than 50 interviews, which, relevant to the members of the offices, allow us to build dimensions of analysis from the testimonies of the actors themselves, considering fundamental their critical capacities in the construction of a situated analysis. Towards the end of the article, we reflect on the constructed approach, explaining the links between the position adopted in front of the object of study and the way in which we build knowledge.
